President's Message For June
Dear NAWBO Greater Detroit Community,
As I sit down to write this message, I keep thinking about a conversation I recently had with a future member who reached out wanting to learn more about NAWBO. During our conversation, she shared something that stayed with me:
“I don’t really have a group to turn to.”
And honestly, that question has been sitting in my heart ever since:
Are we that group?
My answer is simple: yes.
Not because we host events.
Not because we have programming.
Not because we have titles or meetings or networking opportunities.
But because of the women in this chapter.
I believe in NAWBO Greater Detroit because I see our members show up for one another every single day — not just at NAWBO events, but in business, in community, and in life. I see women making introductions, sharing opportunities, supporting launches, attending ribbon cuttings, recommending services, checking in after hard moments, and celebrating wins like they are their own.
Recently, one of our members shared a story with me that perfectly captures what this sisterhood means. She told me that after meeting another NAWBO sister for the very first time at Ladies Over Lunch, that conversation led to her son receiving information that helped him land his very first advisory board opportunity as a recent college graduate.
That matters.
Those moments may not always make headlines, but they change lives, businesses, confidence, and futures. That is the power of community. That is the power of women intentionally showing up for one another.
And that is what I hope you experience at our President’s Reception & Annual Meeting next week.
This evening is more than a meeting. It is a celebration of where we’ve been, what we’re building together, and where we’re headed next as a chapter. You’ll hear updates on the vision for the upcoming year, connect with incredible women business owners and leaders, celebrate member impact, and most importantly, experience the heart of this organization.
Whether you’ve been a member for years, attended one event, or are simply curious about who we are — there is a seat for you in this room.
Because at NAWBO Greater Detroit, we believe business growth and legacy building happen in community.
We are building bold. Members first.
I cannot wait to welcome you personally.
Warmly,
Tenicia Moulden, Esq.
President, NAWBO Greater Detroit
