Paula TutmanIn two weeks we will be honoring some phenomenal women in business at our Annual Top 10 Michigan Business Women Awards. You will not want to miss this event on Thursday, March 17th at the Laurel Park Manor in Livonia with the VIP Reception starting at 5 pm and the Awards Dinner at 6:30 pm. Emmy Award journalist and NAWBO member Paula Tutman is our mistress of ceremony.

Our keynote speaker is the dynamic Nancy Schlichting, CEO, Henry Ford Health System and author of Unconventional Leadership. The GREATER GOOD AWARD recipient this year is Mary Kramer, Publisher of Crain’s Detroit Business.  We will honor 10 women in 10 different categories:  UP-AND-COMING, BREAKTHROUGH, WORDS OF WISDOM, RED TAPE BUSTER, GIVING SPIRIT, DIVERSITY CHAMPION, RAINMAKER, WARRIOR, GLOBAL BUSINESS, AND PINNACLE.  See below for the complete list of honorees. St. Patrick’s Day is going to be a lucky day for one special person. NAWBO GDC will be selecting the winner of a two-year lease on a 2016 Dodge Ram Truck on the night of our Top Ten event. Tickets are 5 for $100 or $25 each and will be sold up unto the drawing. The winner need not be present to win. Contact me or our treasurer Mary Ann Lievois if you would like to purchase tickets. NAWBO members are eligible to win so support your chapter by purchasing a ticket for you or your employees - a great gift incentive!  

In honor of Women's History Month, NAWBO is hosting throughout the country a free event for members called Boost Your Business with Facebook. One of these workshops will be in southeast Michigan on March 28 at the Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest. Complete details are below. I encourage you take advantage of this opportunity.

March is also the time of year that we call for nominations to serve on the NAWBO GDC Board of Directors. Serving is a great way to hone your leadership skills, increase your exposure to the business community in metro Detroit and boost your business.   Strong business leaders are at the core of NAWBO’s success, helping us propel women entrepreneurs into economic, social, and political sphere of power worldwide. Nominations are now open for the term running from July 2016 through June 2018.  Nominees must be members in good standing. Deadline is March 20, 2016.
