Lisa Pointer is the manager of supplier diversity for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan where she is dedicated to the mission of establishing best-in-class business development practices that empower the diverse communities BCBSM serves. In this role, Lisa is leading efforts to continuously provide equal access to all suppliers across the BCBSM enterprise. In today’s environment, faced with multiple disparities and other challenges, the work that Lisa does is critical to ensuring that all diverse suppliers have an opportunity to compete and grow.
As a supplier diversity leader, Lisa plays a key role in identifying innovative solutions to achieve positive consumer impact and business growth. Lisa drives program sustainability by working with all the business areas to plan, train, and develop strategies that further enhance the supplier diversity program.
Lisa joined the Blues in 1991 and has a combined total of 31 years of service. In her tenure in procurement, she has been a leader, responsible for a broad range of Blues commodities from Healthcare, IT and Administrative Services. Through her input and collaborative efforts, spend has grown with direct engagement and strategic partnerships. Her dedication to being intentional in all that she does has been recognized through her multiple nominations for the MMSDC Buyer of the year award with a win in 2022.
She serves on the Board of Directors for the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and stays active in her community. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business – management from Western Michigan University, and an MSA in Administration from Central Michigan University.
