The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Greater Detroit Chapter invites you to celebrate 20 years of honoring women in business.  This annual event recognizes 10 women in various categories and all committed to one thing…EXCELLENCE! Typically a luncheon event, for the first time the NAWBO Top 1O Michigan Business Women Awards Ceremony will be held as an evening dinner event and will include a business to business vendor showcase.

Carol Cain is the Emmy winning Senior Producer/ Host of "Michigan Matters" -- the weekly show airing 11:30 am  Sundays  on CBS 62  featuring politics, business, education and more. 

She is assisting the CBS station with its award-winning "Eye on the Future" initiative. As part of that she has written/produced and hosted prime time TV specials on critical issues including: “Building Bridges: From The Great Lakes To The Great Wall, “Powering Michigan’s Future,  “RX For Michigan” “Reinventing Michigan,” “The Health Care Act and You,” and “Detroit’s Next Chapter.”

Carol is also a  columnist at Detroit Free Press, writing about business and politics. A prolific writer, she pens stories and columns for CBS, Dome Magazine, Michigan Chronicle and others.

She can be heard offering commentary on politics, business and community issues on local and national broadcast outlets.

Carol has hosted “Michigan Matters"  since its debut eight years ago. It features high profile guests as well as weekly panelists from business, political and education. Carol has interviewed Bill Cosby,  Dr. Phil,  Michelle Rhee, Govs. Rick Snyder, John Engler, Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush, GM CEO Mary Barra, Bill Ford, Sergio Marchionne, Mark Fields, Roger Penske, Newt Gingrich, Howard Dean, Geraldine Ferraro, Sir Jackie Stewart, the Chinese Ambassador to the U.S. and many others.

She is dedicated to helping the community and keeping a focus on the importance of diversity. She is involved with marque events including the Michigan Chronicle’s “Pancakes and Politics” and Detroit Economic Club/DADA’s  “Big Four.” She moderated the first televised Detroit mayoral debate for CBS in 2013 and also the Detroit Economic Club’s forum with the two mayoral candidates.

Born in Detroit, she obtained her BA in Communications from Michigan State University and MBA from the University of Michigan.
