President's Message - November 2018

November 12, 2018

Priscilla Archangel

Red shoesThe holiday season is almost here. And, we have a great way to kick off the season with our Fashion in the D Holiday Luncheon on November 29th from 11 am to 2 pm at Pi Banquet Center in Southfield. We will have shopping, a fashion show and a wonderful lunch. Show us your red shoes and receive an extra surprise!  Registration is open. This will be a fabulous opportunity to learn more about our consumer-focused businesses.

Also, as we head into the end of the year, make sure if you are a NAWBO member and have a Comerica business bank account that you take advantage of Comerica's Power Perks program that provides NAWBO GDC members with convenient access to a variety of valuable business-building resources including a $100 rebate toward your membership. Please email our treasurer, Michele Robinson, the following information by December 10, 2018: Member Name, NAWBO Membership #, Last 4 digits of Comerica account, Company Name in order to receive your rebate. You can only receive this reimbursement once a year so if you submitted your information in June 2018 you will need to wait until June 2019.

Please mark your calendars to join us at these upcoming NAWBO events that will help you Connect with others, Learn new insights and Grow your business.

  • Peer Mentoring– We are excited to introduce Compass Circles, our new premier-level member only peer mentoring support experience. Women business owners with shared needs in similar business models will meet for two hours monthly in small groups to exchange ideas and experiences that will support connecting, learning and growing. An informational meeting will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, November 13 from 8-10 a.m. at New York Life, located in American Center, 27777 Franklin Rd. Ste 2220, Southfield. This kick-off is open to both current members and soon-to-be members. Women who sign up will then be assigned to groups, and a facilitator will work with them to ensure a focus on topics of interest to the group. Each group is designed to be a sisterhood of like-minded women who will encourage and support one another, not promote themselves. Register for the informational meeting here.

  • Ladies Over Lunch– Are you interested in learning more about NAWBO? Or, just would like to network with current and prospective members? Join us every first Friday for lunch at the Skyline Club from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Register via our website by December 6th for our next lunch on December 7th.

And with membership comes Virtual Programming through our National organization. Each month (except for December) you’ll find topics to help you operate and grow your business. These are scheduled the second Thursday at 5 p.m. ET. On January 10th, the topic is What is Your Business Success Destination? For more information and to register go here

Another great national program for members only our Leadership Development Training workshop. Start the New Year off with your NAWBO sisters sharing ideas, success stories and having some fun too on Friday, January 25th in Scottsdale, Arizona. Two leadership tracks are offered in NAWBO Leadership Development and Professional Leadership Development are offered, perfect for board members and all NAWBO members alike. I am excited to be a presenter at this event! Here is a flyer with complete details. Register today. If you can't make this one then save the date for our Leadership Development Training on Friday,  April 5th in Memphis, TN.

Welcome to our New Members

I am looking forward to connecting with all of you at one of our upcoming events!
