red shoesFashion in the D! We had a wonderful Holiday Luncheon on November 30th. We put on our red shoes while enjoying shopping, wine and a Fashion Show. And most importantly, we were Connecting, Learning and Growing with extraordinary women! Please check out the photos from the event.

As the year comes to a close, many of you are reflecting on your progress over the past 12 months and setting goals for 2019. Connecting, Learning and Growing with NAWBO women can help you with reach those goals.

Please mark your calendar and join us for these upcoming local events:

Ladies Over Lunch– Are you interested in learning more about how to get the most out of your NAWBO membership? Or, just would like to network with current and prospective members? Join us every first Friday for lunch at the Skyline Club from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Register via our website by January 3rd for our next lunch on January 4th.

Peer Mentoring– We are excited to present Compass Circles, our new premier-level member-only peer mentoring support experience. Women business owners with shared needs in similar business models will meet for two hours monthly in small groups to exchange ideas and experiences that will support personal and professional growth. Several groups will be formed based on need and interest, each designed to be a sisterhood of like-minded women who will encourage and support one another.

Our first Compass Circles group got off to a great start with a meeting at My Moroccan Spa in Dearborn. Owner, Spa Director and NAWBO member Mahasin Berkan shared her vision and journey to providing an atmosphere where busy women can relax, rejuvenate and regenerate. We shared learnings and discussed business challenges to support one another.

An informational meeting for a second Compass Circle group will take place Monday, January 28th from 8-10 a.m. at Americenter, 26677 W. 12 Mile Road, Southfield, MI. This initial meeting is open to both current members and soon-to-be members. Women who sign up will then be assigned to groups, and a facilitator will work with them to ensure a focus on topics of interest to the group. Space is limited, so register here for the January 28th meeting.

Top 10 Michigan Business Women Awards - Save the date! On Thursday, March 28, 2019 we will celebrate the accomplishments of women business owners and leaders at the Somerset Inn in Troy. This will be our 25th Anniversary of recognizing such remarkable women, so mark your calendar. This will be an experience you won't want to miss

Did you know that National NAWBO provides learning through Virtual Programming? Each month (except for December) you’ll find topics to help you operate and grow your business. These are scheduled the second Thursday at 5 p.m. ET. On January 10th, the topic is What is Your Business Success Destination? For more information and to register go here

Another great national program for members only is our Leadership Development Training workshop. Start the New Year off with your NAWBO sisters sharing ideas, success stories and having some fun too on Friday, January 25th in Scottsdale, Arizona. Two leadership tracks are offered in NAWBO Leadership Development and Professional Leadership Development.  This is perfect for all NAWBO members and those who are interested in joining the board. I am excited to be a presenter at this event! Here is a flyer with complete details. Register today. If you can't make this one, then join us for a repeat of the training on Friday, April 5th in Memphis, TN.

Another benefit for NAWBO GDC members is our partnership with Davenport. Their programs provide a pathway for you to start or get back on the path to earning your graduate or undergraduate degree. Classes are offered in convenient 7-week formats with a start date just around the corner – January 7!  NAWBO members receive a discount toward classes. Click here for a video showing how Davenport can help you, your spouse or dependent get started. Call 800-686-1600 to talk to a DU Admissions Specialist, visit, or Apply Today for more information.

Not interested in a degree? Use your education partnership discount and save also on Professional Development! Whether you're looking to improve your leadership skills or fine-tune technical skills, IPEx has a program for you. Learn more about the popular Certificate of Supervisory Management or the Certificate of Project Management.  Explore all Davenport has to offer, plus download our viewbook or the list of upcoming training opportunities in your area.
